main office conference room

The Lochmere HOA is pleased to announce another feature available for all residents. Many Lochmere residents work from home. You may require a quiet location to meet a business associate or to conduct a meeting. You may just want a quiet place to operate for an hour or two. The Main Office at 502 Lochmere Drive has a Conference Room that is now available for your use within the guidelines below.

  • The room is available Monday to Friday 9AM to 4PM based on office staff availability.
  • There is no charge for usage of the room.
  • A resident must be present during the entire time of usage.
  • A resident may not reserve the room for a non-resident.
  • Individuals reserving the room must be 21 years or older.
  • The room can accommodate a maximum of six occupants.
  • The maximum length of time that can be reserved is two (2) hours.
  • Use of the room cannot disrupt office operations.
  • Drinks and light food are permitted.
  • Residents are responsible for cleaning up the room and disposing of trash after use.

cars in driveway

This is a reminder from the Lochmere Board of Directors that Lochmere covenants do not allow the regular parking of vehicles in the street.

Article 3. Section 7: states, “No automobiles, trucks, tractors, boats, campers, or trailers shall be regularly parked within the right-of-way of any street in or adjacent to Lochmere”

Please park in your garage or driveway.

There are many reasons why parking in the street is not desirable.

  • Streets in Lochmere are fairly narrow and it is difficult and dangerous to pass parked vehicles.
  • Children and parents walking to and from school bus stops are at risk because they have to walk around vehicles.
  • Children can run out from behind parked vehicles and be hit by oncoming vehicles.
  • Residents have difficulty in backing out of the driveway when neighbor’s vehicles are parked on the street.
  • It detracts from the neighborhood.
  • The post office can have difficulty delivering mail when vehicles are parked too near mailboxes.
  • It makes it more difficult for emergency vehicles to navigate our streets when cars are parked there.
  • Sanitation and road cleaning trucks have a much harder job navigating our streets when vehicles are parked at the curb.

The Board can call those who do not adhere to the covenant to a Hearing and impose fines.

Any questions or concerns should be referrred to Community Manager, Andy Siouville, at asiouville@hrw.net or 919-233-7640.

 golf cart 4

We wanted to share information from Cary Police & Town of Cary regarding the use of golf carts on the streets.  We have been approached by residents asking if these are allowed on streets in Lochmere.

The short answer is NO:  Golf carts are not allowed to be operated on Town of Cary streets/sidewalks/greenways/etc.

However, with new laws in NC you can now register and operate on roadways what are being classified as “Low Speed Vehicles”.  These are essentially the same as golf carts but actually get their own license plates, have to go through a safety inspection every year and have to be equipped with proper safety equipment very similar to a motor vehicle (headlamps, windshield wipers, turn signals, etc.). These vehicles look extremely similar to golf carts and it can sometimes be hard to differentiate between the two, but I would encourage residents to call Cary Police if they see “golf carts” on the roadways which have no license plate or the vehicle/operator is not adhering to any of the operating procedures detailed below:

§ 20-121.1. Operation of a low-speed vehicle, mini-truck, or modified utility vehicle on certain roadways.

The operation of a low-speed vehicle, mini-truck, or modified utility vehicle is authorized with the following restrictions:

(1) A low-speed vehicle may be operated only on streets and highways where the posted speed limit is 35 miles per hour or less. A mini-truck or modified utility vehicle may be operated only on streets and highways where the posted speed limit is 55 miles per hour or less; provided, a modified utility vehicle may not be operated on any street or highway having four or more travel lanes unless the posted speed limit is 35 miles per hour or less. This subdivision does not prohibit a low-speed vehicle, mini-truck, or modified utility vehicle from crossing a road or street at an intersection where the road or street being crossed has a posted speed limit of more than 35 miles per hour.

(2) A low-speed vehicle or mini-truck shall be equipped with headlamps, stop lamps, turn signal lamps, tail lamps, reflex reflectors, parking brakes, rearview mirrors, windshields, windshield wipers, speedometer, seat belts, and a vehicle identification number. Any such required equipment shall be maintained in proper working order.

(3) A low-speed vehicle, mini-truck, or modified utility vehicle shall be registered and insured in accordance with G.S. 20-50 and G.S. 20-309.
