Intermediate Tai Chi With Esther
Wednesday, February 07, 2018, 10:30am - 11:30am

PLEASE NOTE:  THESE CLASSES WILL BE HELD AT THE LOCHWOOD MAIN OFFICE LOCATED AT 502 LOCHMERE DRIVE FROM OCTOBER 2 THROUGH NOVEMBER 26.

Intermediate Tai Chi classes are offered to Lochmere residents on Wednesday morning in the Highlands Clubhouse (200 Loch Highlands Drive). There is no charge.  Classes are held from 10:30-11:30AM.

First introduced at Lochmere in the fall of 2013, these classes have become increasingly popular.  The classes are taught by Esther Minick and Rani Kalra.  Esther has been practicing Tai Chi for approximately 6 years and became certified 2 years ago.  She also practices a form of Yang.  Rani has been a Lochmere resident for over 25 years.  She has been a student of Esther and received her teaching certification in Spring 2014.

Tai Chi has gotten alot of press lately for being a gentle, healthful activity focused on breathing, balance, and posture.  It is distinguished from yoga in that it is a movement activity.

The program offered at Lochmere is one that was devised by Dr. Paul Lam with the Arthritis Foundation (Tai Chi for Arthritis) and is based on the Sun form of tai chi.  It is more gentle and most suitable for older folks (but all ages are invited).  The basics (which can be applied to any tai chi) are taught.  The class consists of warm up, instruction/practice of form, and cool down.

Please bring the completed registration form (HERE) to your first Tai Chi class.  Classes are limited to Lochmere residents 18 and older.  No guests are allowed.
